Our tutors prepare students for the math portions of Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) by aligning instruction with state standards and targeting the skills students need to meet and exceed grade-level expectations. We focus on building deep understanding so students are ready and not just familiar with the material on test day.
We support high school students preparing for the SAT®, PSAT®, and ACT® with proprietary test prep materials and personalized learning plans tailored to their target scores and timelines. Our specially trained tutors build the content knowledge and problem-solving strategies that translate into stronger results on test day.
At Mathnasium of Gambrills, our specially trained math tutors support K-12 students preparing for any math exam, whether that's an upcoming classroom test, a state assessment, or a college admissions exam like the SAT®, PSAT®, or ACT®.
Instruction takes place in a caring and fun learning environment, where tutors focus on teaching for understanding rather than test-taking shortcuts. By meeting each student at their current level and guiding them step by step, we help them build the skills and confidence to perform their best on exam day.
We teach using the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach that builds the deep conceptual understanding students need to succeed on any math exam.
Our tutors use proven interactive techniques alongside personalized learning plans and proprietary test prep materials. This combination helps students strengthen their mathematical reasoning and develop problem-solving strategies that lead to real, measurable improvement.
The enrollment process begins with a diagnostic assessment that gives us a clear picture of each student's current skills, knowledge gaps, and exam goals. Using these insights, we build a personalized learning plan that focuses instruction where it will make the greatest difference.
As students progress, tutors follow the plan closely and adjust in real time, ensuring concepts are reinforced and new material is introduced at the right pace. Students move toward their exam with growing confidence and a more solid foundation in the math they need to know.

Deep math understanding is the foundation of strong exam performance, and that is precisely what we build at Mathnasium of Gambrills.
Each student's journey begins with a diagnostic assessment that pinpoints where they are and what they need. From there, we design a personalized learning plan that develops math skills steadily over time, so students are never scrambling to prepare at the last minute.
Our specially trained tutors support K-12 students across all math courses, from foundational arithmetic through advanced high school math, reinforcing classroom concepts, addressing knowledge gaps, and strengthening the problem-solving skills that translate directly to exam success.
As specific test or exam approaches, we can switch focus to the topics most likely to appear, giving students a targeted, confident path to test day.
Yes! Mathnasium of Gambrills helps students prepare for the math portions of the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP).
Using Maryland's College and Career-Ready Standards as a guide, our tutors build personalized learning plans that target the grade-level concepts and skills each student needs to succeed on the assessment. We close knowledge gaps, reinforce understanding, and help students approach the MCAP with confidence.
We recommend starting as early in the school year as possible. The MCAP assesses cumulative math knowledge, so students who receive consistent support throughout the year are far better positioned than those who begin cramming in the weeks before the test.
Starting early gives our tutors time to identify knowledge gaps, address foundational weaknesses, and build steady progress toward grade-level mastery. If your student is already close to the exam date, reach out and we will put together a focused plan based on the time available.
Yes! Our specially trained tutors help high school students in Gambrills and surrounding communities prepare for the math sections of the SAT®, PSAT®, and ACT®.
Using proprietary test prep materials and personalized learning plans, we target the specific content and problem types each student needs to master. Whether your student is aiming to hit a score milestone, qualify for a scholarship, or simply feel more confident walking into the exam, we build a preparation plan around their goals.
Three to six months ahead of the exam date is a strong starting point, though earlier is always better.
These exams cover a broad range of math content, from algebra and data analysis to geometry and, on the ACT®, trigonometry. Students who start preparing well in advance have time to work through each area methodically, build exam-style fluency, and enter test day with real confidence rather than last-minute nerves.
For students who have significant foundational gaps, beginning in middle school or early high school gives them the best base to build from. If your student's exam is coming up sooner, contact us and we will design a plan around the time they have.
Math test prep at Mathnasium of Gambrills is offered as part of a flat monthly membership fee. The exact cost depends on your student's personalized plan and weekly session schedule.
We encourage families to contact us directly for pricing details. Our team is happy to walk you through what's included and help you find a plan that works for your student and your family.
Every student is different, so there is no single answer. The right number of sessions depends on the exam, your student's current skill level, and the time available before the test day.
For major college admissions exams like the SAT®, PSAT®, or ACT®, most students benefit from two sessions per week over a three-to-six-month period. For the MCAP or classroom-based exams, a shorter or more targeted plan may be appropriate.
After the diagnostic assessment, we will have a clear picture of what your student needs and can recommend a session schedule designed to give them the best possible outcome.
Yes! Students can attend live, face-to-face online sessions with our specially trained tutors and follow the same personalized learning plan as they would in the center.
Online sessions offer the same quality of instruction and individualized support as in-person sessions, with the added flexibility of attending from home.
No. Both formats deliver the same personalized learning plan, live face-to-face instruction, and caring support from our tutors. Students receive a consistent experience whether they attend in person, online, or a combination of both.
Some families mix formats throughout the year to fit their schedule, particularly as exam dates approach.
Yes. Our tutors are well versed in Maryland's College and Career-Ready Standards for Mathematics and understand the curriculum expectations of local schools across Anne Arundel County.
Where helpful, we align personalized learning plans with state standards and individual school goals to ensure our instruction reinforces what students are learning in the classroom while preparing them for the assessments ahead.
