Mathnasium of West University's personalized algebra tutoring programs are designed to support students at every stage of their math journey.
Students build algebraic reasoning by mastering integers, fractions, order of operations, and introductory variables through personalized instruction that bridges concrete arithmetic and abstract thinking.
We help students tackle multi-step equations, linear functions, graphing, and word problems with proven techniques that transform this pivotal course into a confident foundation for their future math journey.
Our tutors provide targeted support for fast-paced topics: factoring polynomials, quadratics, exponentials, and logarithms to develop the advanced problem-solving skills necessary for Precalculus and college-prep courses.
At Mathnasium of West University, our specially trained math tutors support students across all stages of algebra learning. From Prealgebra through Algebra 1 and Algebra 2, we help students work through topics such as equations, functions, graphing, and polynomials with clarity and purpose.
Instruction takes place in a caring and fun group environment, where tutors focus on teaching algebra in a way that feels logical and approachable. By using clear explanations and meeting students at their current level, we help them gain confidence as their understanding grows.
We teach using the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach that helps students truly understand how algebra works, not just memorize steps. Our approach emphasizes reasoning, problem-solving, and building connections between concepts.
Tutors use proven interactive techniques alongside personalized learning plans, allowing instruction to reflect how each student learns best. This helps students apply algebra more effectively in class and feel more comfortable using it beyond the classroom.
Each student begins their Mathnasium journey with a diagnostic assessment to identify current skills and knowledge gaps in algebra. Using assessment-based insights, we create a personalized learning plan that targets exactly what each student needs.
Once the plan is created, our tutors deliver targeted instruction, evolving according to each student’s learning style to close any knowledge gaps, strengthen their baseline foundation in algebra, and build lasting confidence every step of the way.

Every student works from a personalized learning plan built around their specific needs, so they're always focused on the skills that will move them forward.
The diagnostic assessment gives us a thorough understanding of where the student currently stands in algebra, what they already have solid, where the gaps are, and what they're working toward.
This lets us build a personalized learning plan tailored precisely to their needs, rather than placing them into a one-size-fits-all program. The assessment is relaxed and conversational by design, so students feel at ease from the very beginning.
At Mathnasium of West University, we don't rely on a rigid, off-the-shelf algebra curriculum. Instead, we use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach that combines personalized learning plans with proven teaching techniques designed to build true math understanding.
Our tutors start from what each student already knows, address gaps in a logical order, and introduce new algebra concepts in ways that make sense rather than just drilling procedures.
Yes, absolutely. We work with students at whatever level they're at, patiently walking them through challenging material. It's common for students to see noticeable improvement in their class performance within a matter of weeks.
Absolutely. Mathnasium of West University supports students across the entire skill range, including those in honors or accelerated algebra courses, students getting ahead before more advanced coursework, and those who simply want to go deeper than their current class allows.
We also help students strengthen the algebra skills that show up on college entrance exams like the SAT®, PSAT®, and ACT®, so enrichment and long-term planning go hand in hand.
For students building toward advanced coursework, we make sure their algebra foundation is solid enough to handle the demands ahead.
Yes, homework support is built into every session. Rather than simply supplying answers, our tutors use homework as a live opportunity to reinforce what students are learning and help them work through problems with growing independence.
Students consistently find that this approach helps them feel more prepared and self-sufficient when they're back in the classroom.
Yes. We can align a student's personalized learning plan with their school curriculum and upcoming assessment schedule whenever that's helpful.
Whether it's a chapter quiz, a semester final, a STAAR assessment, or a standardized test with algebra content, we make sure students have the understanding and practice they need to walk in prepared.
We also help students who have gaps in geometry or computation alongside their algebra work, since these areas often intersect, and addressing them together leads to stronger overall math performance.
Online tutoring is available. Students connect with our West University tutors through live, face-to-face sessions from wherever they work best. The online experience follows the same personalized learning plan and delivers the same quality of real-time instruction and support as attending in person.
Families can choose in-center sessions, online sessions, or a combination of both depending on what works best week to week.
Yes. Our tutors have a solid knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Mathematics, as well as the expectations of local schools throughout the West University and Houston area.
When it's helpful, we align personalized learning plans with state standards to make sure our instruction reinforces what students are expected to know for class and state assessments.
