The Mathnasium Method™
Our proprietary teaching method, the Mathnasium Method™, is designed to promote math mastery using personalized learning plans and a combination of interactive techniques. Our method helps students develop solid math foundations and expand their mathematical thinking in a fun and supportive environment.
Mathnasium has instilled a confidence in my daughter that is evident in her schoolwork. She enjoys attending and is very motivated by the rewards system.
The instructors are great! I have a child who is typically hard to please, but he loves it and looks forward to his sessions.
Our daughter has progressed from disliking math to achieving near-perfect scores on a weekly basis. It’s really a pleasure to witness her growth and we are so proud of her. Mathnasium has played a big part in guiding her onto the right track.
Mathnasium’s specially trained tutors can help students excel in any K-12 math class, including:
For younger learners (Pre-K–5), we focus on making math approachable and fun.
Early childhood students work on counting, number recognition, comparing values, simple addition and subtraction, shapes, and patterns. Elementary students expand to multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages, problem-solving, and basic geometry.
We can align with the Washington Learning Standards and prepare students for their first standardized assessments—the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) beginning in grade 3. The goal is to build solid foundations and positive attitudes that set students up for long-term success.
Middle school is a pivotal stage when math becomes more abstract. We support students in grades 6–8 with Prealgebra, ratios and proportions, integers, linear equations, inequalities, graphing, probability, and data analysis.
This is also when students prepare for higher-level tracks in high school. We provide support for SBA state testing, as well as placement tests for honors or advanced math programs. By closing gaps and reinforcing classroom learning, we ensure students feel ready for Algebra and beyond.
Our tutors help high schoolers succeed in courses such as Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Statistics. We also assist with advanced courses and college-level dual enrollment when appropriate.
In Washington, many high school students must demonstrate proficiency on the Smarter Balanced Assessments for graduation, and we provide targeted preparation for those exams.
Additionally, we prepare students for the SAT® and ACT®, which are key for college admissions. Whether the goal is to pass required courses, raise grades, or pursue advanced pathways, Mathnasium provides personalized support.
Yes. Our tutors help students prepare for classroom tests, unit exams, and standardized assessments by reinforcing concepts, teaching test-taking strategies, and improving speed and accuracy.
In Washington, this includes preparation for the Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) in grades 3–8 and high school, as well as End-of-Course requirements when applicable.
We also prepare students for college entrance exams such as the SAT® and ACT®, and for younger learners, school placement tests. With consistent preparation and regular attendance, students gain the confidence and tools needed to improve their scores and reduce test anxiety.
Instead of a traditional curriculum, we use the Mathnasium Method™, a proprietary approach that builds lasting understanding of math concepts through personalized learning plans and proven teaching strategies.
Our tutors use a combination of verbal, visual, tactile, and written techniques to match each student’s learning style.
A key part of our approach is developing number sense (an intuitive grasp of how numbers work together), so students don’t just memorize rules but truly understand the “why” behind them.
This builds confidence, problem-solving skills, and deeper mathematical thinking.
Absolutely. Many families come to Mathnasium when their child is struggling or behind in math. We start by identifying the student’s unique learning gaps through a diagnostic assessment, then use step-by-step instruction to rebuild understanding and confidence.
Our local tutors provide caring guidance in a supportive environment, helping students overcome challenges like foundational gaps or test anxiety. With targeted support, students begin to see progress quickly and start to feel more confident in their abilities.
Yes! We work with advanced learners who are ready to explore math beyond their school curriculum.
Our personalized math enrichment curriculum can include preparation for math competitions, exploring higher-level topics like logic or number theory, or working ahead into Algebra 2, Precalculus, or advanced coursework.
The enrichment curriculum is designed to keep students challenged, motivated, and excited about math while building skills that will serve them in college and beyond.
Yes. We dedicate part of each session to helping students with their homework.
Rather than just giving answers, our tutors guide students through the process so they gain confidence and mastery.
This makes homework less stressful while strengthening classroom performance.
Each student begins their Mathnasium journey with a diagnostic assessment, designed to pinpoint their current skills, identify strengths, and uncover gaps. This is not a stressful test but a low-pressure exercise that shows us how your child thinks about math.
The assessment helps us understand how your child learns math, as well as identify their strengths and knowledge gaps so we can create a personalized learning plan to help them catch up, keep up, or get ahead on their math journey.
We align assessments with the Washington State Mathematics Learning Standards, ensuring our instruction supports both classroom success and state testing requirements.
