Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Leah Stewart

Assistant Centre Director

I'm a Science student at UBC with a passion for helping students build confidence in math. I enjoy making challenging concepts easier to understand by breaking them down step-by-step and adapting lessons to each student's learning style. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, improving their skills, and reaching their academic goals.

William Lin

High School Instructor

As the Lead High School Instructor at Mathnasium Kerrisdale, Willliam brings a decade of teaching experience and a deep technical background to the center. Currently completing a degree in Mathematics-Computer Science at UC San Diego, William specializes in translating complex mathematical theory into practical, high-performance results for students.

Having spent the last two years at our Kerrisdale location, William has become a trusted resource for students navigating the most demanding curricula, including AP Calculus BC and IB Math. While their expertise spans the entire K-12 spectrum - from foundational arithmetic to advanced calculus - their primary focus is empowering high schoolers to build the logical rigor required for university success. William combines five years of specialized math instruction with a modern, analytical approach, ensuring that every student develops both confidence and a competitive academic edge.

Sophia Teng

Instructor

Sophia is a 2nd-year student currently pursuing a Mathematics degree from the University of British Columbia. She enjoys helping students work through problems step by step and encourages a deeper understanding of math concepts.

She believes that a strong foundation in math opens doors to endless possibilities. Her goal is to foster a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and gain the confidence to see themselves as capable mathematicians.

Outside of Math, Sophia loves to play golf and go bouldering!

Aish Indran

Instructor

Aish is a second-year student pursuing a degree at the University of British Columbia. She enjoys tackling math problems alongside students, with the end goal of building confidence and helping others realize that math can be fun!

She has had a love for mathematics since childhood, and combined with her experience working with children, Mathnasium was a perfect fit!

She aims to create a lasting impact by helping students become independent problem-solvers and ultimately achieve academic success.

Simran Badesha

Instructor

Simran joined the Mathnasium team in December with a strong passion for learning and helping others grow. She will be attending the University of British Columbia to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, combining her interest in science with her commitment to making a difference in people’s lives. She brings a determined mindset, a positive attitude, and a willingness to take on new challenges.
Outside of academics, she plays field hockey and enjoys staying active. She also loves hiking and spending time outdoors.

What makes Mathnasium special to her?
“It’s the supportive, encouraging environment where everyone feels motivated to learn and grow.”

Aniket Jyoti

Instructor

I study Engineering at the University of British Columbia and spend a lot of my time working through math from both sides, understanding the theory and figuring out how to explain it in a way that actually makes sense to others. I like showing students that math isn't about memorizing steps, but about recognizing patterns and building logic one piece at a time. My focus is on helping students slow things down, think more clearly through problems, and gain confidence as they go.

Abhiyan Azad

Instructor

Math has always been one of my favorite subjects because of the problem-solving and critical thinking it encourages. I enjoy working with students to help them strengthen their understanding, approach challenges with confidence, and build skills that extend beyond the classroom. My goal is to make math feel more approachable, engaging, and rewarding for every student.

Arshiya Raihan

Instructor

I'm a Science student at UBC and I've always had a strong interest in math and problem-solving. I have previously worked with students through tutoring and volunteer teaching experiences, where I developed a passion for helping students learn with confidence. Having always enjoyed the challenging aspect of math, I enjoy teaching concepts in a ways that feels simple, engaging and easy to understand. I believe every student can succeed in math with the right support and encouragement. Outside of Mathnasium, I enjoy reading, painting, spending time with  friends and going to movies.

Supriya Dua

Instructor

Supriya earned her Bachelor of Science in IT from Simon Fraser University and has been teaching at Mathnasium of Kerrisdale since graduating in 2023. She enjoys working with students of all ages and helping them develop their math skills and confidence.

She believes that with the right instruction and support, every student can improve and enjoy math. Supriya finds great fulfillment in seeing her students grow, overcome challenges, and achieve success.
