Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Kierra Cruz

Instructor

Kierra Cruz is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University, where she completed a double major in Criminology and Forensic Psychology. With over six years of experience tutoring students in math, she is dedicated to helping children reach their full academic potential.

Kierra’s strong conceptual understanding makes math one of her favourite subjects to teach. She enjoys working closely with students to build skills and confidence. Outside of tutoring, she values time spent with family and friends and continues exploring her interests in psychology and education.

Julia Posteraro

Instructor

Julia Posteraro is currently studying Architectural Studies at the University of Toronto and plans to complete a minor in business. She has a strong passion for both mathematics and the arts and regularly participates in university math competitions.

Julia enjoys helping students learn math in a supportive, engaging environment and believes every child can succeed with the right resources. In her free time, she expresses her creativity through drawing, painting, and sewing clothing, blending analytical thinking with artistic design.

Victoria Del Balso

Instructor

Victoria Del Balso is a fourth-year student in the Integrated Biomedical Engineering and Health Sciences programme at McMaster University. While she has a strong appreciation for the arts, her greatest passion lies in mathematics and problem solving.

Victoria enjoys helping students overcome challenges and gain confidence in their abilities. She believes learning math should be both empowering and enjoyable. Outside the classroom, she continues her studies in piano and ballet, combining discipline and creativity in everything she pursues.

Larry Martinek

Chief Instructional Officer

Larry Martinek has devoted more than three decades to improving the way children learn mathematics. With experience as a teacher, consultant, and curriculum designer, he identified a critical gap between basic skills and long-term mathematical understanding.

Larry developed the Mathnasium Method to build true number sense through deep conceptual learning rather than rote memorization. His work empowers students of all abilities to think like mathematicians and approach problem solving with confidence, clarity, and lasting understanding.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
