Samuel O.

Center Director

Samuel, known as Mr. Sam to his students, grew up in Apex and holds a Master’s degree in Statistics from NC State University. He brings both expertise and enthusiasm to his teaching and enjoys helping students build strong math skills and confidence.

Sam values creating a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to grow and succeed. He takes pride in making math approachable and engaging for every student he works with.

Outside of Mathnasium, Sam enjoys spending time with his two mini Schnauzers, Duke and Duchess. He also loves playing guitar and has a particular fondness for the color blue.

Caroline M.

Education Director

Caroline graduated from the University of Notre Dame with degrees in Mathematics and Biology. She enjoys working at Mathnasium because it allows her to understand each student’s unique needs, learning styles, and areas of confusion, and to tailor instruction in a way that truly supports their growth.

Caroline is passionate about helping students build deep understanding so they can approach math problems with confidence rather than hesitation. She believes that when students feel understood and supported, they are better equipped to succeed and enjoy learning.

Outside of Mathnasium, Caroline enjoys dancing and going to the beach.

Amy R.

Lead Instructor

Amy spent her early childhood in Maryland before moving to Apex, NC, where she has lived ever since. She enjoys working with students and is passionate about helping them build confidence in their math skills.

Amy values creating a fun and encouraging environment where students feel supported as they learn and grow. She loves being part of each student’s progress and making math a more positive experience.

Outside of Mathnasium, Amy enjoys drawing, playing sports, baking, skiing, and coding. She also loves spending time with her friends and her super sweet border collie, Oreo, and her favorite color is navy blue.

Nicole S.

Front Office Manager

Nicole is a recent graduate of UNC Wilmington, where she earned her degree in Economics. She is passionate about working with children and feels fortunate to play a role in their personal and academic growth. Her favorite part of working at Mathnasium is meeting new students and watching their confidence and understanding of mathematical concepts grow over time.

Nicole is committed to building genuine relationships with students, creating a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and expressing themselves. She strives to be both a mentor and a friendly, approachable presence they can rely on.

Outside of Mathnasium, Nicole enjoys reading, especially fantasy and literary fiction. She loves exploring local bookshops and museums.

Caleb H.

Instructor

Caleb is a student at NC State University studying biomedical engineering. He enjoys helping our Mathnasium students understand concepts they previously found challenging. He is especially passionate about boosting students’ confidence and self-esteem as they develop stronger math skills.

Caleb believes that encouragement and clarity are key to successful learning experiences. He strives to create a supportive and engaging environment for every student.

Outside of Mathnasium, Caleb enjoys designing and creating projects using his 3D printer.

Bhargav J.

Instructor

Bhargav is a student at Wake Technical Community College studying mathematics and information technologies. He loves working at Mathnasium and getting to connect with the students while supporting them through problem-solving!

Bhargav believes math becomes easier when students feel supported and understood. He works to create a welcoming and encouraging learning environment.

Outside of teaching, Bhargav enjoys playing Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder.

Stella G.

Instructor

Stella brings over 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience to Mathnasium. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and is certified in K–8 education. Much of her career has been spent teaching fifth grade, with additional experience at the middle school level.

Stella is passionate about helping students overcome challenges and gain confidence in math. Math has been her favorite subject her entire life, and she enjoys making it accessible and meaningful for all learners.

Outside the classroom, Stella loves jigsaw and logic puzzles, playing cards, and spending time with her 10-year-old tortoise (who weighs almost 50 pounds!) and her bearded dragon.

Jack H.

Instructor

Jack is a senior at UNC Chapel Hill with plans to pursue a career in consulting. He enjoys working with the students at Mathnasium and helping them understand math by tackling challenging problems and building confidence along the way.

Jack is especially motivated by seeing students grow more comfortable with problem-solving and developing a positive mindset toward math. He believes confidence is just as important as content knowledge.

Fun fact: Jack can recite more than 50 digits of pi.

Cat D.

Instructor

Cat is originally from Charlotte and is currently studying biology at NC State University. She enjoys working with students and brings a creative, thoughtful approach to her time at Mathnasium.

She values connecting with others and creating a positive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable learning and growing. She loves sharing her enthusiasm and helping students build confidence along the way. 

When Cat isn't teaching, she is getting creative with nature-inspired art or writing songs. She loves spending time outdoors, and her favorite color is green. Cat also has a super cool cat named Vera!

Arshaan H.

Instructor

Arshaan is a first-year master’s student at Duke University studying biomedical engineering. At Mathnasium, he enjoys helping students understand math concepts and loves witnessing the “lightbulb moments.”

He enjoys helping students break down complex ideas so that they have clear steps to approach problems with. Additionally, he enjoys helping students feel confident and capable in their skills. Arshaan values patience, encouragement, and curiosity in his teaching.

Fun fact: Arshaan is left-handed!

Abigail M.

Instructor

Abigail is a student at NC State University studying industrial engineering. She loves working at Mathnasium because it allows her to share the fun and creativity of math while helping students strengthen their skills.

Abigail enjoys working with children and finds teaching both rewarding and enjoyable. She strives to make math engaging, positive, and accessible for every learner.

Outside of Mathnasium, Abigail enjoys creating 3D drawings and spending time with her cat, Mocha.

Greg S.

Instructor

Greg is a graduate of NC State University with a degree in Computer Science. He enjoys working at Mathnasium because it challenges him to think critically and solve problems while helping students experience their own “eureka” moments.

Greg values listening to students’ perspectives on problem-solving, believing that different approaches enrich everyone’s understanding. He is passionate about continuous learning and intellectual curiosity.

Outside of Mathnasium, Greg can solve a Rubik’s Cube in under a minute, enjoys competitive video gaming, and is currently studying Japanese.

Sahaana S.

Instructor

Sahaana is a student at NC State University studying biology. She loves working at Mathnasium and working with curious students. Specifically, she enjoys seeing the students’ excitement for learning. She enjoys supporting students as they explore math with enthusiasm and confidence.

Sahaana strives to make learning engaging and positive, encouraging students to ask questions and think critically.

Outside of Mathnasium, she enjoys reading, working on DIY projects, and practicing taekwondo.

Ali V.

Instructor

Ali is a student at NC State University studying electrical engineering. At Mathnasium, he enjoys teaching and sharing new perspectives on math. He is passionate about helping students see math in different ways so concepts feel more clear and meaningful.

Ali values connection, communication, and curiosity in the learning process. He aims to help students build both understanding and confidence.

Outside of Mathnasium, Ali enjoys spending time with loved ones and volunteering in the community.

Allen S.

Instructor

Allen is a student at UNC Chapel Hill and brings a passion for learning and teaching to Mathnasium of Apex. Having lived in Massachusetts, Ontario, and North Carolina, he enjoys connecting with students from all backgrounds. 

In his free time, Allen likes coding, drawing, and playing video games. His favorite color is dark purple, and he also enjoys caring for his pet fish. 

Devin M.

Instructor

Devin is currently studying Mathematics and Physics at UNC Chapel Hill and has a passion for all things analytical and scientific. Originally born in Florida and raised in Apex, she enjoys working with students and helping them develop confidence in their academic abilities.

Devin values creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions and think critically. She finds it especially rewarding to see students grow in both understanding and curiosity.

Outside of teaching, Devin enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Lucy and Tucker, and her cat, Penny. She also loves hiking and exploring the outdoors whenever she gets the chance.

Chadwick J.

Instructor

Chadwick is a graduate of NC State University. He loves working at Mathnasium and specifically enjoys helping students from diverse backgrounds understand math and build confidence in their abilities. He is passionate about making math accessible and inclusive for all learners.

Chadwick values adaptability and patience, and he enjoys finding different approaches that resonate with each student’s learning style.

Outside of Mathnasium, Chadwick enjoys playing sports and conducting research.
