Barry and Kathryn Fausnaugh have owned and operated Mathnasium of Bethesda since 2012, when it opened as the first Mathnasium Learning Center in MoCo. Barry holds a B.S. in Information Systems Management from UMUC, and Kathryn holds a B.S. in Accounting from Virginia Tech and was a licensed CPA (inactive).
Both enjoyed successful careers in IT and management consulting before joining Mathnasium. As parents, they understand the struggles many families face with math. They believe mastering essential skills is key to success and are committed to helping children learn to love and use math in daily life.
James is one of Mathnasium’s most experienced instructors and oversees Center Operations across the organization. His background includes undergraduate studies in pre-med with engineering coursework, fueling his appreciation for how math shapes both technology and the natural world.

He finds his work at Mathnasium to be among the most rewarding of his career, especially watching students grow in skills and confidence while discovering their own appreciation for mathematics.
