Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Nicole

Finance Director/Co-owner

Nicole began her Mathnasium journey as a Center Director and now oversees finances for the three centers she co-owns with her husband Jeff. She has been with Mathnasium for over five years and brings a deep understanding of how to support students—both in and out of the classroom.

Although she misses working directly with students, Nicole loves knowing she still plays a vital role in their academic journeys. She and Jeff are excited for their son Cooper to join the Mathnasium family one day and continue the tradition of making math make sense.

Melanie

Center Director

Melanie holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in astronomy and physics and was the first woman to receive the Darrell Cain Award for excellence in leadership and inspiring students. She tutored math throughout college and spent five years working at the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute.

Since 2023, she has served as a Center Director at Mathnasium while also teaching astronomy and physics at American Public University. Melanie is passionate about how the Mathnasium Method builds confidence and critical thinking. She loves seeing students grow excited about learning as they discover how math shapes the world—and universe—around them.

Charlie

Instructor

Charlie is a proud math geek with a degree in Mathematics from North Carolina State University. Her mission at Mathnasium is to make math approachable—and maybe even fun—for every student she works with.

She creates a welcoming environment where students feel confident and curious about learning. Outside of teaching, Charlie plays cello in local symphonies and enjoys life with her wonderfully quirky cat, Cheesecake. She hopes to pursue a graduate degree in education in the future.

Mahita

Instructor

Mahita’s love for math started in middle school and grew through her involvement in math clubs and competitions. Now a junior at Green Hope High School, she enjoys helping students grasp new concepts and find joy in problem-solving.

She’s passionate about making learning interactive and engaging for all ages. When she’s not at Mathnasium, Mahita serves as Co-President of her school’s DECA chapter, plays violin, and volunteers in her community.

Rohit

Instructor

Rohit brings enthusiasm, energy, and a fresh perspective to his first year as a Mathnasium instructor. He sees math as a series of fun puzzles and works to help students feel less intimidated and more empowered.

Outside of Mathnasium, Rohit enjoys volleyball, biking, and spending time with friends. He’s excited to build connections with students and make math more accessible—and maybe even a little exciting—for everyone.

Ethan

Instructor

Mr. Ethan is a first year instructor passionate about math and science since he first started school. He believes math provides an essential way to view the world, and loves working with kids of all ages to help bring that incredible world to light. Outside of Mathnasium, he loves ultimate frisbee, golfing, playing cello, and collaborating with classmates to solve advanced physics problems! He is currently attending Cary Academy and will attend Northwestern University in the fall.

Tammy

Instructor

Ms. Tammy is a first-year instructor who is very passionate about math. She believes that math is very important to understand and strives to make it engaging and exciting. Ms. Tammy is currently a student at Cary High School and enjoys theatre, music, and art in her free time!
