Melissa Mesa

Assistant Center Director

Melissa brings years of educational and leadership experience to Mathnasium. She holds a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction and has dedicated her career to helping students and families succeed academically and personally. Before joining Mathnasium, she served as Director of a day camp, managing programs that foster teamwork, creativity, and confidence in children. 

At Mathnasium, Melissa combines her leadership skills with her commitment to student growth, helping children build confidence and a lasting love for math. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Daniel, and their two children, Elan and Jordana.

Eugene Domingo

Lead Instructor

Eugene graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in General Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science. He also holds a Data Analytics certification and has experience tutoring calculus and leading STEM camps. 

Eugene loves exploring new mathematical concepts and discovering creative ways to make math fun and relatable for students. Outside of Mathnasium, he enjoys staying active, playing sports, and spending time with friends and family. His passion for learning and helping others shines in every lesson he teaches. 

Phillip Suwandi

Instructor

Phillip is currently a senior at Northwestern University, majoring in Cello Performance and European History and minoring in Musicology. Before music and history, Phillip planned on becoming an Aerospace Engineer, leading to a natural curiosity and love for math, especially when utilized in physics. He has over eight years of teaching experience, ranging from his time as an after-school teacher in the Highland Park School District to private cello instruction. In his free time, Phillip likes to explore his other interests, including sketching, photography, and gardening. 

Grace Carroll

Instructor
Grace is a first-year student at Northwestern University. Grace joined the Mathnasium team in January of 2026, but she has been instructing math since 2023. As a high schooler, Grace was a tutor for middle and high school students learning algebra, geometry, and calculus. Grace was also selected by the College Board to be a peer tutor for the March 9, 2024 digital SAT. Grace loves working with kids, and has been a summer camp counselor since 2021.



Jacob Danielson

Instructor
Jacob graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor's degree in History and from Northwestern University with a Master's in Journalism. He has always enjoyed mathematics and working with students to improve their problem-solving skills. He has experience as a standardized test prep tutor for students preparing to take either the ACT or SAT for college acceptance.
