Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

She loves helping students reach their “aha” moments and discover that math can be enjoyable. Outside of Mathnasium, Sofia spends her time singing and reading fantasy and science fiction books. Her creativity and love for learning inspire students to stay curious and engaged in their math journey.

Seth

Seth earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from California State University, Long Beach and plans to pursue a master’s degree in the same field. He has a natural ability to connect with students from elementary through high school and enjoys helping them feel confident in math.

Seth demonstrates patience and attentiveness in every session and brings a calm, encouraging presence to the center. His strong academic background and dedication to teaching make him a valuable resource for students working through complex topics.

Elaine

Instructor

Elaine is a recent graduate of Wilson High School and will be starting the Computer Science program at the University of California, Irvine. She has quickly become a standout instructor at Mathnasium, known for her clarity, support, and strong communication skills.

Elaine is dedicated to helping students understand tough concepts and offers practical techniques for solving problems. She believes in reinforcing key ideas until they click and encourages students to stay positive and determined, no matter the challenge.

Andrew B.

Head of Operations

Andrew studied mathematics at Dartmouth College and brings a strong academic background and deep community roots to Mathnasium. A South Bay native, he takes pride in helping local students build confidence and thrive in math.

Andrew leads his team with warmth and clarity, always focused on making math accessible and engaging. He believes every child can succeed when given the right support and works to ensure that each student leaves the center feeling more confident than when they arrived.

Instructor Team

At Mathnasium, our instructors are the heart of everything we do. Each team member is carefully selected, thoroughly background-checked, and trained over several months before they ever work with students. Most are college-level or above—we rarely hire high school students—and we continue training them every two weeks to stay sharp in both Mathnasium methods and Common Core standards.

We take pride in supporting our instructors so they can give your child the best experience possible. That includes offering competitive pay to attract top talent and making sure everyone on our team meets the highest standards.

What makes our program especially strong is that our leadership team is made up entirely of former instructors. That means every decision we make is grounded in real teaching experience and a deep understanding of what helps students grow and thrive.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
