• Where is Mathnasium of Potomac located?

  Mathnasium of Potomac is located at 10154 River Road in the Potomac Village Shopping Center, next to Sprinkles and PNC Bank. We’re directly across the street from Potomac Pizza and the UPS Store, making our center a walkable and convenient option for nearby families. 

  We proudly serve families from Potomac and surrounding neighborhoods. Students attend Montgomery County Public Schools. Local schools we support include:

• Does Mathnasium of Potomac offer online tutoring?

  Yes! Mathnasium of Potomac offers both in-center and online tutoring. Whether students attend online or in person, they receive face-to-face instruction from our specially trained tutors in a supportive and engaging group environment that encourages learning and growth.

• Is there a difference between online and in-person tutoring?

  No. Students who participate online receive the same personalized learning plans, direct instruction, and ongoing support they would experience in our learning center.

• What math classes can your Potomac tutors help with?

  We work with students in grades K–12 to learn and master any math class or topic from early childhood math and foundational arithmetic to Algebra and Geometry.

  Mathnasium of Potomac provides premium value through a flat monthly membership and a one-time enrollment fee. 

  Most students attend two to three times per week. After a diagnostic assessment, we design a personalized learning plan with recommended session frequency based on your child’s goals.

• Is there a difference between the cost of online and in-center math tutoring?

  No. The membership fee remains the same whether your child attends in person, online, or through a combination of both.

• Why do you require an assessment for enrollment?

  Each student begins with a diagnostic assessment that helps us identify their strengths, learning gaps, and academic goals. These insights guide the creation of a personalized learning plan tailored to their needs and pace.

• How do you teach math? What curriculum do you use?

  At Mathnasium of Potomac, we don’t follow a fixed curriculum. Instead, we use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach that blends personalized learning plans with proven instructional techniques.

  This approach is designed to help students make sense of math, close knowledge gaps, and build strong foundations for math mastery. It also supports the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills that benefit students in school and beyond.

• Do you work with advanced students or with students who are struggling with math?

  Yes. Mathnasium of Potomac works with students at all levels, whether they’re trying to catch up, keep up, or get ahead. 

  Students who need support receive targeted instruction that strengthens foundational skills. Advanced learners are challenged through enrichment programs designed to deepen their understanding and analytical thinking.

• Do you work with homeschooled students in Potomac?

  Absolutely. We support K–12 students from all educational backgrounds, including those who are homeschooled, attending private school, or enrolled in the Fairfax County public school system.

• Do you help students with their math homework?

  Yes. Our tutors set aside time during sessions to assist with math homework, helping students understand classroom concepts and complete assignments with confidence.

• Does Mathnasium assign homework to students?

  No. We do not assign homework. All learning occurs during face-to-face sessions with our specially trained tutors, ensuring students make meaningful progress during their time at the center.

  Yes, Mathnasium of Potomac helps students in Potomac prepare for standardized and school-based math tests including state exams, SAT®, and ACT®.
