Christian brings nearly two decades of experience in math education and business. He began his Mathnasium journey as an instructor in 2008 while studying at UC Berkeley, where he graduated with honors in Applied Mathematics and Economics. He later earned his Ph.D. from UCLA as a National Science Foundation Fellow.
Passionate about helping every child build confidence and develop a love for math, Christian especially enjoys seeing students experience those rewarding “aha!” moments.
Outside of Mathnasium, Christian enjoys spending time with his wife and their three young children—ages four, two, and their newest little addition.
Arlene is a proud full-time mom with more than 12 years of experience in brand strategy, marketing, and campaign development across Southeast Asia. Her professional background includes launching more than 100 successful marketing campaigns with companies such as L’Oréal and Mondelēz International, where she was also recognized for helping foster a positive and collaborative work culture.
At Mathnasium, Arlene brings together her corporate experience and her commitment to supporting families. She enjoys building strong relationships with parents, instructors, and the local community while helping create an environment where students can grow in confidence and thrive in their math journey.
Mike holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in History from Michigan State University, along with a minor in Mathematics. After earning his teaching certification, he taught high school math in both Michigan and Illinois. Since 2018, Mike has brought his passion for education to Mathnasium in a variety of roles.
He enjoys helping students reach their potential in math and especially values Mathnasium’s individualized approach to learning. Outside of the center, Mike enjoys reading science fiction, watching classic films, and reflecting on one of his most memorable childhood experiences—witnessing the Apollo 8 launch.
Russ has had a lifelong love of math and holds an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Virginia. He began his career as a scientific application programmer at the Naval Air Test Center and later spent more than 30 years at OCLC, where he became affectionately known as “the numbers man.”
After retiring, Russ continued sharing his love of math by tutoring students in his community and now brings his experience and enthusiasm to Mathnasium. He appreciates Mathnasium’s structured approach to learning and enjoys helping students build confidence and succeed.
Outside of math, Russ is also passionate about music and takes great pride in his family’s musical accomplishments.
