Alan is a Long Island native who grew up in Port Washington and graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. in Government. After working on Capitol Hill as a technology consultant, he earned his M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
In 2011, he opened Mathnasium of Roslyn—the first in Nassau County—and helped grow it into a top-performing center. A father of two and dedicated community volunteer, Alan is passionate about helping students build math confidence and skills that last a lifetime.
Cheryl is a seasoned educator with 34 years of experience as a middle school math teacher and has been with Mathnasium of Roslyn since its opening in 2011. Her deep instructional knowledge and enthusiasm for teaching help students thrive in all stages of math learning.
Cheryl excels at diagnosing individual learning needs and presenting math in exciting, memorable ways. Her vibrant personality and engaging approach create an environment where students feel relaxed, encouraged, and ready to succeed.
Freddie has been a cornerstone of the Mathnasium of Roslyn team since 2013. With a degree in Psychology from Queens College, he discovered a love for teaching math through tutoring classmates during undergrad and is now pursuing postgraduate work in Education.
Freddie is known for his creativity and passion for helping students learn. He’s invented unique tools and games to simplify difficult concepts and was a finalist in the 2018 Mathnasium Instructor of the Year competition. He often says, "I’d work here until 2031," and students love his energy and commitment to their growth.
Suneet holds a Master’s in Math Education from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s in Engineering. He began tutoring math in college and went on to teach at Democracy Prep High School in Manhattan and student-teach at Herricks High School.
He has been a Lead Instructor at Mathnasium of Roslyn for over a decade, where he has helped more than 300 students excel in math. With a deep belief in the Mathnasium Method, Suneet is confident that every student can succeed with the right guidance and teaching approach.
Megha is a current medical student at The New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. She has loved math since childhood and began tutoring students in high school. She’s especially interested in how math applies to science and healthcare.
At Mathnasium, Megha combines her strong academic background with her passion for education. She believes every student can master math with engaging instruction and consistent practice, and she aims to inspire students to reach their full potential.
Matthew graduated from Bayside High School and is currently a student at Stony Brook University. He discovered his love for math in elementary school, where he found himself advanced in the subject and eager to help his classmates succeed. This sparked his desire to tutor and assist as many people as possible. Matthew is excited to be part of the Mathnasium team and looks forward to sharing his knowledge with the students while inspiring them to do their best!
Lionel is a retired educator with nearly three decades of experience teaching high school math and a few years as an adjunct professor. He holds a BS in Mathematics and an MA in Secondary Mathematics from Adelphi University. Drawn to Mathnasium's innovative approach and commitment to student success, Lionel eagerly embraces his role as an instructor, aiming to inspire students and help them build the mathematical skills necessary to thrive in today's world.
Matthew is a senior at Cornell University majoring in Science and Technology studies. Matthew has always considered math his favorite subject; in high school he did math research and won a silver medal at the Al Kalfus Math Fair. Matthew loves sports, particularly the analytics side. He firmly believes that Moneyball is the greatest baseball movie of all time (with Major League as a close second).
Justin is currently attending Stony Brook University, pursuing a major in Chemical and Molecular Engineering. From a young age, Justin was always interested in learning how things worked, whether it be tinkering with computers or testing science experiments at home. He rediscovered his love for math and science in high school, volunteering to tutor his classmates and help them develop a deeper understanding of the topics he was passionate about. At Mathnasium, he seeks new opportunities to apply his skills and teach students the ‘how’ and the ‘why’, instead of just memorizing the ‘what’.
Noah graduated from Herricks High School in 2024 and is currently studying Statistics at Adelphi University. Math has always been his favorite subject, and as he has learned more concepts and skills, his appreciation for the impact of math on the world has grown. Noah hopes to share his passion for math with his Mathnasium students and guide them on their own mathematical journeys.
Matthew is a recent graduate of Cornell University, earning a B.A. in Music with Honors, summa cum laude. A former student of Mineola High School, Matthew developed a passion for math, earning a silver medal at the Al Kalfus Long Island Math Fair and attending the Institute for Creative Problem Solving for Gifted and Talented Students at SUNY College at Old Westbury. He maintains a strong passion for discovering beautiful connections between math and music, and aims to instill curiosity in his students while inspiring those around him.
Andrew holds two Master’s degrees—one in Geology and another in Environmental Sustainability. During graduate school, he worked as a Teaching Assistant and later served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the City College of New York, gaining valuable classroom experience. Andrew is currently working towards his Advanced Certificate in Secondary Education (Earth Science) in order to become a certified teacher in New York State.
Though his professional background is rooted in science, Andrew has always maintained a strong interest in math and enjoys applying it both in academic settings and real-world problem-solving. At Mathnasium, he brings clarity and enthusiasm to every session, helping students build both skills and curiosity.
