Tyler holds a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Washington Bothell campus, and a Master's in Education from Western Governors University. With 7 years of experience at Mathnasium, Tyler has been an integral part of the Mathnasium family, serving as both an instructor and, now, Center Director. At Mathasium, Tyler believes in making learning interactive and fun while building strong foundational skills. His approach blends logic and creativity to help students grasp difficult math concepts. Outside the center, Tyler enjoys 3D design, photography, and video games.
Brian obtained his PhD in Mathematics from Oregon State University and has worked in education and tutoring for over a decade. His structured, thorough approach is a great fit for both students who are struggling and need support and those who are ahead and working to grasp more complex topics than they see in school. If he is not at Mathnasium, you may find him hiking the PNW or working in his garden!
Kai has a Bachelor's in Communications from the University of Washington, and has worked in customer service and administrative roles. Kai joined Mathnasium in 2023 and plays a key role in ensuring students receive the right materials and experience during their sessions!
Ilia brings decades of teaching experience and a rich academic background to Mathnasium. He has taught all levels of math and computer science, including courses at Portland Community College. Ilia holds three undergraduate degrees: in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering. His deep understanding of mathematical concepts and instructional strategies makes him a valuable resource for students at every level. Ilia is committed to helping students not only succeed in math but also enjoy the process of learning and discovery.
Joy holds a Bachelor's in Biochemistry and a Master’s in Education from Seattle Pacific University. With more than eight years of tutoring experience in Chemistry, Biology, and Genetics, she brings a strong interdisciplinary approach to teaching. She has also worked as a paraeducator in the Lake Washington School District, supporting students across a variety of needs. Joy loves showing students that math can be engaging and fun, and she celebrates each "aha" moment along the way. Outside of Mathnasium, she volunteers as a forest steward with the Green Kirkland Partnership.
