Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Vaughn Westerman

Lead Instructor
Vaughn is a calm, kind, and patient instructor who is deeply curious about how things work and enjoys helping students develop a genuine love for learning. During his time studying at Michigan Tech for his Computer Science degree, he explored advanced topics including Quantum Computing and Differential Equations.

Vaughn has learned throughout his life, from earning a black belt in Taekwondo, to playing jazz trumpet, to studying mathematics, that everything takes practice and patience. He hopes to offer students a low-pressure space where they can practice, make mistakes, and grow at their own pace.

When Vaughn isn't tutoring, he enjoys managing web servers, spending time with his family, and reading with his cat and a cup of coffee.

Eva

Instructor

I am currently a student at South Lyon High School. Before joining Mathnasium, I tutored a number of elementary students in my town, helping them improve their math skills and gain confidence. I joined Mathnasium because I love working with kids, and math has always been one of my strongest and favorite subjects. I especially enjoy the challenge of advanced math and exploring how problem-solving can apply to real-world situations. I stay actively engaged in the community through my volunteer work with my school’s Key Club. I also volunteer at the Lyon Township Public Library from time to time, where I help set up children’s activities and story times. In addition to Key Club, I am a member of my school’s debate team, multicultural club, UNICEF club, and Student Council.
