Matt brings 18 years of classroom experience teaching Pre-Algebra through Algebra 2 and a lifelong passion for math, inspired by his 4th grade teacher, Mr. Jennings. He believes learning math should be both engaging and fun, and he brings that philosophy into every session.
A longtime basketball coach and third-generation Washingtonian, Matt also enjoys photography, gardening, and cheering on D.C.’s sports teams. As Center Director, he’s dedicated to combining math, fun, and meaningful student growth.
Shrestha is a neuroscience major at the University of Maryland, College Park and has been tutoring math since 2021. A former Mathnasium student herself, she credits the program with helping her develop the confidence she now shares with her students.
She strives to help others enjoy math as much as she does. Her favorite number is 11, and she loves fun math facts—like how a typical cloud weighs about a million tonnes!
Brian is a veteran middle school math teacher in Montgomery County and has been part of the Mathnasium team since 2016. He brings over 15 years of classroom teaching experience and a calm, supportive presence to every session.
Outside the center, Brian enjoys collecting sports memorabilia and spending time with his wife, Kate, and their daughter, Grace. He’s passionate about helping students grow in confidence and skill through personalized instruction.
Riya is looking to go into business and finance, and math has always been her favorite subject. She has been a camp counselor for four years, and she has a dog named Drake. Her favorite number is 9!
Ritika hopes to study Public Health in college. She enjoys Bollywood dancing, and her favorite number is 11 because it was her basketball jersey number!
AJ hopes to study Finance in college, and he is fluent in American Sign Language. Outside of Mathnasium, he likes to play baseball and hang out with his friends. His favorite number is 15 because he always wears it on his sports jerseys!
Rohan hopes to study computer science in college. He's a Lakers fan and loves to play basketball, and he loves playing chess as well. His favorite number is 10 since his birthday is 10/10/10!
