James Sullivan
Director of Center Operations
James oversees Center Operations across our organization and is one of our most experienced instructors. With a background in pre-med and engineering, he’s long been fascinated by how math explains both everyday tools and complex natural forces.
James is passionate about helping students develop math confidence and believes math will play a key role in solving future challenges in medicine and technology. He finds joy in seeing students grow, and says working at Mathnasium has been one of the most rewarding parts of his career.

Owners
Barry and Kathryn Fausnaugh have owned and operated successful Mathnasium centers since 2012. Barry holds a B.S. in Information Systems Management from UMUC, and Kathryn holds a B.S. in Accounting from Virginia Tech and was a licensed CPA (inactive). Prior to Mathnasium, both enjoyed successful careers in IT and consulting.
As parents, they understand the challenges families face with math and are committed to helping students build strong foundational skills early. They believe every child can learn to enjoy and appreciate math—and that those skills open doors in every future career path.

Yes! Mathnasium of Perry Hall offers both in-center and online tutoring. Students can attend live, face-to-face sessions online or in person, with the same personalized learning plans and caring tutors.
No. Whether your student attends in person or online, they receive the same individualized instruction and real-time support from our specially trained tutors using the Mathnasium Method™.
We support students in grades K–12 across a wide range of math classes and topics. For younger students, we focus on building number sense and core skills like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
As students advance, we help with Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and more. We also offer test prep for standardized exams, including the SAT®, ACT®, and school-based assessments.
We offer a flat monthly enrollment fee along with a one-time start-up fee when joining. Families may choose month-to-month enrollment or benefit from discounts through longer-term commitments. Most students benefit from attending 2–3 sessions per week. We recommend starting with a free assessment to find the best plan for your child.
