Mathnasium of Hammersmith teaches using the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach that combines personalised learning plans with proven teaching techniques to transform how students think and feel about maths.
Our approach adjusts to each student's unique learning needs and styles, focusing on closing their knowledge gaps and expanding their mathematical thinking at the pace that is right for them.
Instructors at Mathnasium of Hammersmith focus on bringing out the best in every child's maths ability. We deliver instruction face-to-face in a caring and fun group environment, in-centre on Shepherd's Bush Road or online through Mathnasium@home.
Students at Mathnasium of Hammersmith work with us from Reception through to GCSE and follow their own personalised learning plan, so each session focuses on exactly what they need.
Enrolment at Mathnasium of Hammersmith begins with a free diagnostic assessment, so we can get to know each student, identifying their skill level and learning needs. Using those assessment-based insights, we build a personalised learning plan, with topics sequenced to suit that child rather than following a fixed syllabus from the start.
The plan isn't static. We check in on progress regularly and adjust it as a child moves closer to maths mastery.

Amarachi Ohanusi
Instructor
Hi! I'm Amarachi, a medical student at Imperial College London and an instructor at Mathnasium of Hammersmith. After taking the 11+ exam, l gained entry to James Allen's Girls' School, where I completed my GCSEs and A-levels, achieving an A* in Maths.
I believe that maths should be fun and approachable for children as this makes it feel far less intimidating as they grow older.
In my spare time, I enjoy singing with my university choir and crocheting!
Whether they would like to attend sessions in-centre or online, students can take 3 easy steps to enrol at Mathnasium.
All students begin their Mathnasium journey with a diagnostic assessment that pinpoints what they already know and what they still need to learn.

We work with students from Reception right through to GCSE, spanning every Key Stage from the Early Years Foundation Stage to KS4, across ages 4 to 16.
West London brings a real mix of goals: an early foundation in number sense, entry into one of the area's many independent schools or steady progress toward GCSE.
Our instructors work across the full span of primary maths and build up toward the complete GCSE syllabus, covering number, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio, algebra, geometry, probability and statistics along the way.
Because each child's personalised learning plan drives the session rather than a set syllabus, a younger child consolidating number bonds and an older student deep in GCSE revision can be working side by side, each on exactly what suits them.
Private tutors typically focus on addressing their student's immediate learning needs.
Mathnasium of Hammersmith takes a different path, one built around long-term maths mastery while still leaving room for that kind of immediate support. We start by closing existing knowledge gaps, then build new concepts in a considered sequence, so each one rests on solid ground.
Every session also sets aside time for a child's schoolwork, helping them stay confident with what they're covering in class.
Instructors follow the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach used across more than 1,200 centres worldwide, delivered face-to-face in a caring and fun group environment.
There's no standard curriculum here. Instructors work from the Mathnasium Method™, a proprietary teaching approach that combines personalised learning plans with proven teaching techniques to help students develop a true understanding of maths.
That means mixing mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written teaching techniques according to each child's personalised learning plan, while providing an option to align with what they're covering at school under the National Curriculum.
Mathnasium of Hammersmith works with students of all skill levels, whether they're catching up, keeping up or getting ahead.
Students who are ahead can go beyond the school curriculum with enrichment work and preparation for the 7+, 11+ and Common Entrance exams set by the area's independent schools.
For children who are finding maths difficult, the personalised learning plan meets them exactly where they are and builds forward at their own pace. Our caring instructors work with them face-to-face, marking every win along the way and helping their confidence grow.
Independent schools across west London set the 7+ and 11+ and Mathnasium of Hammersmith supports children preparing for both.
Starting roughly a year ahead of the exam gives a child time to build numerical reasoning skills properly and work through the range of question types they'll face, rather than cramming at the last minute.
Common Entrance covers a wide span of primary and early secondary maths and is set by many independent senior schools.
Mathnasium of Hammersmith builds a personalised learning plan around the specific school or schools a child is targeting, closing whatever knowledge gaps stand between them and the exam.
Of course! GCSE support at Mathnasium of Hammersmith runs on a personalised learning plan built from a child's target grade, current performance and the areas that need the most work, covering the complete GCSE maths curriculum across Foundation and Higher tiers.
There's a flat monthly membership fee at Mathnasium of Hammersmith. Most students attend two to three sessions a week, depending on what their personalised learning plan calls for.
Following the free diagnostic assessment, we will recommend a session plan tailored to your child's learning needs and goals.
Getting started is straightforward: use the Contact Us button on this page or email [email protected]. We'll arrange their free diagnostic assessment first, so we understand exactly where your child's maths stands before anything else.
Once that's done, we'll walk you through the results and the personalised learning plan we've built, then answer any questions before their first session.
