Helping Students in Notting Hill Excel in Maths

Mathnasium of Notting Hill teaches using the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach that combines personalised learning plans with proven teaching techniques to transform how children think and feel about maths.

Our approach adapts to each child's unique learning needs and style, closing knowledge gaps and building their mathematical thinking at a pace that's right for them.

Instructors at Mathnasium of Notting Hill focus on bringing out the best in every child's maths ability. We deliver instruction face-to-face in a caring and fun group environment, in-centre on Lancaster Road or online through Mathnasium@home.

Students work with us from Reception through to GCSE and every session follows their personalised learning plan, so no two sessions in the centre look quite the same.

Enrolment at Mathnasium of Notting Hill begins with a free diagnostic assessment, so we can get to know each child, identifying their skill level and learning needs. Using those assessment-based insights, we build a personalised learning plan, sequencing topics in the order that suits that individual child rather than working straight down a fixed syllabus.

The plan isn't static. We check in on progress regularly and adjust it as a child moves closer to maths mastery.

  • What year groups does Mathnasium of Notting Hill work with?

We work with students from Reception through to GCSE, ages 4 to 16, across every Key Stage from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to KS4.

Families in Notting Hill come to us at every stage: some are focused on 7+ or 11+ entry, others on Common Entrance and others simply want steady progress toward GCSE.

  • What maths topics can your tutors in Notting Hill help with?

Our instructors build maths knowledge level by level, covering number and arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, geometry, algebra, probability and statistics through primary, then extending toward the complete range of topics required at GCSE.

Because each session runs on a child's personalised learning plan rather than a one-size-fits-all syllabus, no two children in the centre at the same time are necessarily working on the same thing.

  • How is Mathnasium different from a private tutor?

Private tutors usually work with whatever a child has brought along that day, whether it's homework, a tricky topic or last-minute revision.

Mathnasium of Notting Hill starts from a different point, building towards long-term maths mastery while still leaving room for that kind of immediate support. We begin with a free diagnostic assessment that maps out a child's knowledge gaps, then work through them in a considered sequence, so each new idea builds on solid ground.

Every session also sets aside time for a child's schoolwork, helping them keep pace with their maths class with confidence.

Instructors follow the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach used across more than 1,200 centres worldwide, delivered face-to-face in a caring and fun group environment.

  • How do you teach maths? Which curriculum do you use?

Rather than a set curriculum, instructors work from the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach that combines personalised learning plans with proven teaching techniques to help children truly understand and even enjoy maths.

Each child's personalised learning plan guides what they work on, closing knowledge gaps and building the mathematical thinking that will serve them well beyond the classroom.

Every session also leaves room for a child's ongoing schoolwork and homework, so they can stay confident with what they're covering in class.

  • Do you work with children who are ahead or only children who are struggling?

Mathnasium of Notting Hill works with students of all maths skill levels, supporting them as they catch up, keep up or get ahead.

For students who are already excelling, we offer enrichment beyond the school curriculum and focused preparation for the 7+, 11+ and Common Entrance.

For children who are finding maths difficult, the personalised learning plan meets them exactly where they are and builds forward at their own pace. Our caring instructors work with them face-to-face, marking every win along the way and helping their confidence grow.

  • Do you prepare children for the 7+ and 11+?

Of course, Mathnasium of Notting Hill supports children preparing for the 7+ and 11+ entrance exams used by local independent schools.

We recommend starting preparation at least a year ahead of the relevant exam, to leave time to build numerical reasoning skills and work steadily through the full range of question types children will meet on the day.

  • Do you prepare children for Common Entrance?

Some independent senior schools set their own Common Entrance and the maths paper spans a broad range of primary and early secondary topics.

Mathnasium of Notting Hill builds a personalised learning plan around the specific schools a child is targeting and closes whatever gaps stand in the way.

  • Do you offer GCSE maths tutoring?

Certainly! GCSE preparation follows a personalised learning plan built from a child's target grade, current performance and the topics needing the most attention, spanning the complete GCSE maths curriculum across Foundation and Higher tiers.

  • How much does maths tutoring cost at Mathnasium of Notting Hill?

Mathnasium of Notting Hill typically operates on a flat monthly membership fee, with most students attending two to three sessions a week depending on their personalised learning plan.

Following the free diagnostic assessment, we will recommend a session plan tailored to your child's learning needs and goals.

  • How can I enrol my child at Mathnasium of Notting Hill?

Start by getting in touch through the Contact Us button on this page or by emailing [email protected]. We will arrange their free diagnostic assessment to build a clear picture of where your child is currently at with  their maths and what support would help most.

After the assessment, we will talk you through the results and the personalised learning plan we have put together, then answer any questions before sessions begin.
