  • What year groups does Mathnasium of Bromsgrove work with?

We work with children from Reception through to GCSE - ages 4 to 16 - spanning all key stages from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to KS4.

Bromsgrove families come to us at a range of different stages. Some want to build solid foundations early, others are looking to stretch a child who is ahead of their year group, and others need focused support heading into GCSEs. Whatever the stage, we have a programme to fit.

  • What maths topics and subjects can your tutors help with?

Our instructors support children across the full primary and secondary maths curriculum - number, fractions, decimals and percentages, algebra, ratio, geometry, statistics and trigonometry - at every level from KS1 through to KS4.

Sessions are shaped by each child's personalised learning plan rather than a set course, which means a Year 3 child working on times tables and a Year 10 child preparing for GCSE mocks will each get exactly the focus they need.

  • How do you teach maths? Which curriculum do you use?

Our maths tutoring follows the Mathnasium Method™, not a fixed curriculum. The Method is built on the principle that maths should make sense - a child who understands why something works will retain it and apply it far better than one who has simply learned to follow steps by rote.

Our instructors use a combination of mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written approaches, guided throughout by each child's personalised learning plan. We keep a close eye on what children are covering at school under the National Curriculum, so sessions complement classroom learning while also addressing any gaps that have developed over time.

  • How is Mathnasium different from a private tutor?

With a private tutor, the structure of each session tends to depend on what the child walks in with that day. Mathnasium of Bromsgrove works from a different starting point entirely.

Every child is assessed before sessions begin, and their learning is shaped by a personalised plan built around their individual knowledge gaps and goals. Our instructors follow the Mathnasium Method™ - a structured, consistent teaching approach used across 1,300+ centres worldwide - so progress is systematic rather than reactive.

Sessions take place in a supportive centre environment where children receive personalised instruction, build confidence alongside their peers, and develop the kind of consistent habits that make a real difference over time.

  • Do you work with advanced children or only those struggling with maths?

We work with children of all skill levels. A significant number of the families who come to us are looking to stretch their child rather than simply catch them up.

For children who are ahead of their year group, we open up maths beyond the standard curriculum - deeper problem-solving, more demanding topics, and preparation for any entrance exams they may be working towards.

For those who are finding maths hard, we start from exactly where they are and build methodically, closing gaps so that each new concept has something solid to sit on.

And for children somewhere in the middle, we help them stay on track and build the kind of consistent performance that makes exams and school transitions far less daunting.

  • Why do you require an assessment for enrolment?

Each student is given a diagnostic assessment that pinpoints their strengths, knowledge gaps, and unique goals, so that we can create a personalised learning plan that will put them on the best path to maths mastery.

  • Do you prepare children for entrance exams?

Yes. We support children preparing for a range of entrance and admissions assessments, helping them build the strong maths foundations and problem-solving skills they need to perform at their best. Get in touch to discuss your child's specific situation and we will advise on the best approach.

  • Do you offer GCSE maths tutoring?

Yes. Our instructors support Year 10 and Year 11 children through their GCSE maths preparation with a personalised plan built around their current performance, target grade and the topics where they most need to improve. We cover the full GCSE maths curriculum - including number, algebra, geometry, ratio, probability and statistics - across both Foundation and Higher tiers.

  • How much does maths tutoring cost at Mathnasium of Bromsgrove?

Mathnasium of Bromsgrove operates on a flat monthly membership fee. The number of sessions per week we recommend will depend on your child's personalised learning plan and goals, but most pupils attend two to three times per week.

To find out about current pricing, contact us at [email protected] or call 01527 304134.

  • How can I enrol my child at Mathnasium of Bromsgrove?

Start by getting in touch through the Contact Us button on this page or by emailing [email protected]. We will arrange a free diagnostic assessment to build an accurate picture of where your child is in their maths and what type of support they need most.

After the assessment, we will walk you through the results and the personalised learning plan we have put together for your child, and answer any questions before sessions begin. There is no obligation - just a clearer picture of where your child is and how we can help.
