We welcome you to contact your local Mathnasium learning centre with any questions you may have about algebra tutoring. Here are some of the more common ones we get:
Mathnasium is a growing network of maths-only learning centres with over 40 locations across the UK. Our centres span from London and the Home Counties, including Wokingham, St Albans and Milton Keynes, to Manchester in the North West and Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland.
You can use the "Find a Centre" feature through our website to find one near you. If there is not yet a centre in your area, Mathnasium@home, our online programme, is available before we provide a centre near you.
Private tutors typically focus on the immediate task their students might need help with, whether that is tonight's homework or an upcoming test. Mathnasium works differently.
Our focus is on finding where a student's understanding of algebra breaks down and rebuilding from there.
Our specially trained instructors use our teaching approach to support GCSE and Year 11 students, whether they need to catch up, keep up or get ahead. Sessions take place in a supportive group environment with live, face-to-face instruction.

At Mathnasium, students receive face-to-face instruction in a supportive group environment.
Using our teaching approach, our instructors guide students through their personalised learning plans to help them build a solid foundation in algebra and improve their skills at their own pace.

Yes, part of each session is set aside for school assignments and homework help, so students can solidify what they are learning at school.
The goal is not to hand over answers but to make sure your child understands the reasoning, so they can work through similar questions independently next time.
No. Algebra sessions run online through Mathnasium@home follow exactly the same format as in-centre sessions. They are live and face-to-face, led by the same specially trained instructors your child would meet at their nearest Mathnasium centre and guided by the same personalised learning plan.
The cost of Mathnasium varies by programme and area, so we always recommend contacting your nearest centre for details on available packages. What stays consistent is the structure: there is a flat enrolment fee and students attend regularly throughout the programme, much like a gym membership.
We suggest attending Mathnasium 2-3 times per week, but this should be determined according to the student's learning needs and goals.
The diagnostic assessment gives us a precise picture of where your child's algebra knowledge currently stands, including the foundational maths that sits beneath it. We use those findings to build a personalised learning plan targeting the gaps that matter most.
Every student at Mathnasium begins with this assessment. It is what makes the learning plan truly personalised rather than generic.
Getting started is straightforward:
Find your nearest Mathnasium centre and get in touch, even if your child will be learning online.
Book a free assessment. We use it to identify knowledge gaps and build a personalised learning plan with guidance from our specially trained algebra instructors.
Set up a schedule. Your local Centre Director will help find session times that fit your family and walk you through the rest of the process.

The teaching is engaging, personalised and genuinely helps children develop a real understanding of maths rather than just memorising methods.

The teaching has been clear and well structured helping her strengthen her understanding and problem solving skills.
